Green super smoothie

This creamy, zesty smoothie is perfect if you’re a person who needs breakfast to be quick.

You’ll get so much goodness from just one glass of this, including healthy fat from the avocado and a dose of vitamins and minerals from the spinach. Combining the spinach with the lime (or any citrus fruit), helps your body absorb the iron from the spinach, too – and makes it taste great.

This is also a good afternoon snack – avocado provides a healthy boost of energy and is said to help with sugar cravings.

Any milk works (or try half milk and half water). Half light coconut milk and half water is a combination we like a lot, too.

Makes 1 large glass

You will need: 

  • 1/2 ripe banana (around 50g), preferably frozen
  • Large handful spinach
  • 1/2 small, soft avocado (around 40-50g)
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 125ml organic milk of choice
  • 2/3 ice cubes

Method:

Add everything to a blender (or bowl if you’re using a stick blender) and blitz until smooth and all the ingredients are incorporated.

NOTES

If your bananas aren’t super ripe, sweeten the smoothie with a teaspoon of honey, brown rice or maple syrup.
